Some would say that there are two types of people in the world: Bacon lovers and those who should be. Executive Chef Brian Robinson, at Restaurant 3 is a firm believer in the foodie philosophy that, “Everything tastes better with bacon.” Back by popular demand, Restaurant Owner Jonathan Williams and Executive Chef Brian Robinson will put the spotlight on the house-cured meat by celebrating the Second Annual “Week of Bacon” from October 14-21, with an entire week of tastings, demonstrations, and bacon themed happy hours. I think bacon lovers will complain that it’s only a week.
Each day for the duration of the week of bacon, Restaurant 3 will offer a daily Bacon Happy Hour, where bar guests can feast on bacon bites, such as bacon on a stick and bacon-wrapped shrimp. What’s better than meat on a stick? Oh … right. Of course, an ice cold brewsky. Wash it all down with $3 craft beer draft specials. Don’t miss your chance to learn from the master during the bacon-curing demonstration and tasting that will be offered in the bar during happy hour from 4:00pm – 7pm.
Just when you think you’ve found your mentor for life, Chef Brian Robison will offer a Bacon Curing Class to demonstrate his own special curing methods, share curing rub recipes, and provide participants with tastes from his cellar. Cost will be approximately $25 per person and guests get to take home rubs and bacon!
“I’ve long said that if I were about to be executed and were given a choice of my last meal, it would be bacon and eggs. There are few sights that appeal to me more than the streaks of lean and fat in a good side of bacon, or the lovely round of pinkish meat framed in delicate white fat that is Canadian bacon. Nothing is quite as intoxicating as the smell of bacon frying in the morning, save perhaps the smell of coffee brewing.”
Chef Robinson will also offer his gut-busting Bacon Tasting Menu, priced at $33 per person and features the smoky salty goodness such as Bacon & Eggs and Maple Bacon Ice Cream. Don’t miss the chance to get in on the goods. Call Restaurant 3 at (703) 524-4440 to reserve your spot at the curing class, tasting dinner, or brunch.
