Chef Frank Morales leaves Rustico with plans for his own Salts of the Earth, LLC

chefmorales-fullHave you heard the big news about the Neighborhood Restaurant Group? Oh yes, I suppose that there are two newsworthy items. First, Columbia Firehouse in Old Town, Alexandria opens today. The second is that Rustico’s Executive Chef, Frank Morales decided to split. I had a chance to get the scoop from Frank Morales himself earlier this morning, just before noon. Yep, … right from the horse’s mouth, sort to speak, about what went down and what his plans are for the future. Frank said, “I am a firm believer in as one door closes others open up. I am part of this community and plan to be for some time.” Evidently, Chef Morales has plans to stay in the DC area and open his own restaurant. This is great news to Rustico fans … (including myself).  He said, “Now is the personal right time to start my own restaurant, if not the best economic times.” As everyone knows, I personally think that the DC restaurant scene has not seen this so-called recession. There have been dozens of new restaurants that have opened up in the middle of the supposed “recession” and these establishments have done quite well.

Chef Morales is starting his own restaurant group that he will call, “Salts of the Earth, LLC” – so any and all restaurant investors out there – this is your call to action. I of course wish Frank well and Washingtonians should do their part to help out an emerging restaurateur. Foodies Unite! This is YOUR call to action!
