Women Chefs & Restaurateurs (WCR) announces a call for nominations for the prestigious 2009 Women Who Inspire Awards. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the annual WCR Women Who Inspire Awards program inspires present and future generations of women chefs and restaurateurs. The awards recognize achievement within the industry and pays tribute to those women who have demonstrated excellence in the kitchen, dining room, beverage profession, baking and pastry arts, community affairs, farming and food production, and for a lifetime of culinary excellence.

Founded in 1993 by eight prominent women chefs and restaurateurs, WCR’s mission is to promote and enhance the education, advancement and connection of women in the foodservice industry. WCR offers a variety of networking, professional and support services to more than 2,000 members representing all industry sectors. According to WCR, although the majority of those who work in the food service industry are women, very few ever reach the upper echelons of management and they believe that these awards inspire women to pursue and excel in culinary careers.
