Dining in DC is excited to announce that POSH is offering our loyal Dining in DC followers an amazing promotion all throughout the month of May. Dining in DC readers are offered a special 20% discount when you visit Posh!(There are a few minor restrictions, so please see below for details).
Have you ever been to Posh? Well Posh is not just a restaurant, it is a truly unique dining experience and offers a one- stop shop for all night entertainment. Opened in Fall 2006 by the Robert Johnson Group of Companies (RLJ), founder and former CEO of BET (Black Entertainment Television) to introduce DC to a true “supper club”. The concept of a restaurant and a club combined is based on the model of old-time jazz clubs and speakeasies which offers more than just a meal; it’s an evening out! With cocktails before dinner, followed by a mutilple course meal, the dining experience lasts throughout a large portion of the evening. Dinner is followed by live entertainment such as comedy, music, or dancing. In this way, a supper club provides one place to enjoy the entire evening. The old-fashioned supper clubs pushed dining tables along the wall after supper so couples could dance. A more modern version, like Posh provides a separate dance floor and a plush comfortable setting with dim lights and a cozy, romantic atmosphere. Derek Newton, Managing Director and General Manager says, “We still move our tables out to open up the dance floor, just like in the olden days.”
Posh has received accolades by DC area diners such as Voted #1 Restaurant/Bar Scene in DC, #1 Hot Spot and #1 & #2 Late Night Find by OpenTable.com Diners. Posh Executive Chef, Christopher Willis studied at the Pennsylvania Culinary institute has nearly 15 years experience in the restaurant industry and was the personal chef for Tom Clancy. He has prepared meals for celebrities visiting Posh such as Patti Labelle, Lorraine Bracco, Chaka Kahn, Smokey Robinson, Nelly, Denzel Washington, Richard Branson, Sharon Stone, Robert De Niro, Forest Whitaker, Chris Tucker, Marisa Tomei and Samuel L. Jackson. He has an impressive Bio.
Posh offers Karaoke Wednesdays and live jazz most Thursday evenings. Also Posh features a live DJ every Friday and Saturday. Notable themes and monthly events include Girlfriends Night Out and Old School Funk Fest. Next monthly GNO is Wednesday, May 13, 2009 and features $28 Three Course prix fixe menu, Free “Face Readings” with Rose RoseTree, (see YouTube Video 1 & Video 2), Free Nail Taxi services (make appointment when arriving), Karaoke, and Drink Specials. Newton says, “Our clientele is 70/30 women. There are a lot more women in DC than there are men. There is no cover charge and so it’s just a great way for ladies to come out and have a good time and catch up.” Alright ladies, “Hire a sitter, break out those minolos, and get POSHed!
