The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) 2010 RAMMY Awards is in just two weeks on June 6, 2010 where the Rammy winners will be announced. It’s an exciting night for everyone involved but the Rammy’s are exciting to Dining in DC for several reasons. First, it’s our home-town restaurant awards — our own home-grown version of James Beard, as far as I am concerned. There is nothing better than being recognized for your talent by your own colleagues. Second, it’s our chance to honor those very talented and hard-working people who make living and dining in Washington, DC so worth while which has ultimately become my passion.  

In order to be eligible for the category of “New Restaurant” a restaurant must have been opened between December 1, 2008 and November 30, 2009 and has already distinguished itself as a pacesetter in food, beverage and service. The Rammy 201o finalists for New Restaurant are:

• Bibiana
• Birch & Barley
• Bourbon Steak
• Eventide
• Inox

Interested in attending the The 2010 RAMMYs? The award winners will be announced at the RAMMY gala on June 6, 2010 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. The theme of the 2010 RAMMY Awards is “We’ll Always Have… Restaurants,” and is a play on a famous line from the 1940’s movie Casablanca. 1940’s era glamour will influence the décor and attire and infuse the evening with an air of intrigue. A portion of the proceeds from the gala will benefit the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Association Education Foundation to fund scholarships for culinary education students, enabling them to develop and expand their career opportunities in the restaurant industry.
